Friends of God
Anxiety is a more and more common experience for so many of us. More of us will take medication at some point for our anxiety. Often our fears are disorded. The great concern we should have is the fear of God. As the apostle Peter said, “fear God, honour the king.” (1 Peter 2:7). He is the judge. God’s opinion is the only one that really matters. But the great news is for his people we know that God is for us.
Thanks to Jesus we are longer enemies of God, but his friends! Paul puts it like this: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). We can breathe easy because Jesus has made us right with God. We have objective peace, regardless whether you feel it or not.
Jesus described the amazing relationship his disciples have with him like this, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:15). Oh, to be a friend of God! And through faith in the work of Jesus, that is what we are!
