Praise God for...Lugarno church
I received those words on a card this week. It was not a comment about the buildings. It was a personal prayer about the people who had provided such great support. Before we jump too quickly to saying, ‘we’ve got our problems’, there is a truth we must realise here. God has changed us. By the Holy Spirit. Life is coming out through us.
"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. By this he meant the Spirit” (John 7:37–39).
Everyone who thirsts for God and then truly trusts Jesus has their thirst quenched. They also become a source of life for others because streams of living water will flow from within them. Just as Jesus had said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12) but also told his followers, “you are the light of the world” (John 5:14) because they reflect his character. Now Jesus, the living-water-giver (John 4:10) tells us that those who believe in him have living water flow out from them. Jesus said: “the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:14) In other words: we are blessed to be a blessing.
This week I have seen God’s people walking, talking, riding, praying, listening, eating, laughing, reading, thinking, planning, organising, deciding, sharing, caring, giving, calling, working, grieving and committing together. Each action has been animated by the Holy Spirit and is sharing his love. Praise God that we have been given life by the Spirit and now give life by the Spirit. Be encouraged that, by the power of God, there is a river of life flowing out from his people!
